The Royal Botanic Gardens in Peradeniya is Sri Lanka’s largest and most impressive botanical garden, located just 6 km from Kandy. Originally a royal garden in the 14th century during the reign of the Kandyan kings, it was later developed into a formal botanical garden by the British in the early 19th century.
