Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage is one of Sri Lanka’s most popular and heartwarming tourist attractions.

this sanctuary was established in 1975 to care for orphaned, injured, and abandoned elephants found in the wild. Over the years, it has grown into a large facility housing dozens of elephants, including babies born at the orphanage.
Visitors to Pinnawala can witness elephants living in a semi-natural habitat, where they are cared for by dedicated mahouts (elephant caretakers).
